How long does asphalt take to set?
Asphalt is generally driveable within 24–48 hours, though it continues to fully harden over the following weeks — we'll advise on care during that period.
Is asphalt cheaper than block paving?
Usually yes, particularly for larger areas, since it's quicker to lay. Block paving costs more but offers more design choice and easier localised repair.
Does asphalt crack easily?
Poorly laid asphalt on an inadequate sub-base will crack within a few years. Properly compacted two-course asphalt on a correctly prepared base should last 15–20+ years.
Can you repair an existing asphalt driveway instead of relaying it?
Often yes — potholes and edge damage can frequently be patched or resurfaced rather than needing a full relay. We'll assess and give you the honest option, not just the bigger job.
